Cabo San Lucas sees over 3 million tourists annually. Sustainability has to be a key focus for our travel conversation when beautiful natural areas are hit so hard by industry traffic like this. But what do we mean by sustainability? And what does that look like in action when traveling? There are many ways to answer these questions but it could start like this:

    • Respect sacred or solemn spaces and avoid photography if signs or tour guides request that.

    • Choose your experiences with locals in mind. Prioritize activities that contribute to greater cultural awareness and economic empowerment of locals.

    • Find opportunities to gain a new perspective with cultural and historical accounts through authentic engagement with locals. Learn a bit of the language to initiate your interactions.

    • Travel off-season if possible – avoid overtaxing limited resources.

    • Choose environmentally-focused accommodations and tours.

With these tools in your repertoire, you are ready to experience these amazing spots through a more sustainable lens.
